Break It on the Copy First

Updates can introduce compatibility problems. A plugin update can clobber your contact form. A theme update can wreck your menu. Finding out from an annoyed customer is the worst way to find out.

So we do updates on a private copy of your site first. We click through the pages, check the forms and test checkout. Only when the copy looks right does the change ship to your live site. If an update breaks something on the copy, we fix it there or skip it and tell you why. Testing on the copy helps catch problems before release.

Speed Can Drift After Launch

New scripts, large images and some updates can affect speed. That is why speed checks are part of maintenance, not a separate purchase you make after things slow down. You should not have to buy the same speed twice.

We test on a throttled mobile connection, closer to the signal a customer has in a parking lot than to office fiber. Regular checks help identify performance changes. When we find something dragging, we tell you what it is and what it takes to fix.

We run our own house the same way. The J.M. Field site we rebuilt used to show its main content at 10.8 seconds in a lab test on a throttled mobile connection. The rebuild shows it at 1.2 seconds, same connection, tested October 9, 2026.

Backups and Security Monitoring

Websites get probed by bots all day, every day. That is not scare talk, it is just the internet now. We monitor yours to help detect downtime and security issues.

Backups run in the background on a schedule. If something goes sideways, we use a recent backup to restore the site. That beats rebuilding from memory and panic.

Small Edits Stop Piling Up

Your hours changed. A staff photo is three years old. You want a banner up for the slow season. These are small jobs that can sit on a to do list for months because nobody wants to log in and risk breaking the layout.
