Website migration services in South Florida

Moving a site should feel boring. You keep your customers, your email, and your search traffic while the new home gets ready.

What a clean migration looks like

A migration is a handoff. Your address, your content, your email routing, and your search history all move together, and nobody touches the live site before a full backup exists.

SoFlo Web Services is part of J.M. Field, a Fort Lauderdale company serving South Florida businesses since 1993. We work on a copy first, test it on a throttled mobile connection, and ship to live when everything checks out.

  • Full backup of files, database, and key settings before anything moves
  • A working copy on the new home, checked before the switch
  • Forms, logins, payments, menus, and mobile pages tested
  • A DNS plan for a quiet hour, with mail records checked first
  • An after-move check in Search Console and on real pages

Moving hosts without losing email

Email is where migrations get personal. If the site moves and your inbox breaks, you feel it fast, so we trace where mail is hosted before the site flips.

We do not promise zero downtime. We plan the cutover for a quiet hour. Where your setup allows it, we also get the internet to forget your old address faster ahead of the move, and we confirm mail records so messages keep landing where they should.

  • Confirm who controls the domain, DNS, hosting, and email
  • Check mail records before the site changes address
  • Move or reconnect email first when it depends on the old host
  • Keep the old server available during the changeover window

WordPress migration service and platform moves

WordPress moves can be simple. Other times the move digs through an old theme, a retired page builder, dead plugins, and a database that has been dragging for years. We move what is worth keeping, and we tell you when a straight copy is all you need.

We work on WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, and custom sites built by anyone. If the old build itself is the real problem, we will say so. It happened to us: on our own J.M. Field site, main content showed at 10.8 seconds on the old WordPress build, and it shows at 1.2 seconds after the rebuild. Lab test, same throttled mobile connection, 2026-10-09.

Broken links, redirects, and search rankings

Search engines hate surprises. If your domain and URLs can stay the same, we keep them the same. If URLs have to change, every important old address gets a redirect to the closest new page.

A move can still make Google recrawl the site, and rankings are not ours to promise. We lower the risk: content stays stable, we test every link, and we watch Search Console after the move and fix misses fast.

  • Map old URLs to new URLs before launch
  • Add redirects for changed pages, not just the home page
  • Check canonical tags, sitemap files, and robots rules
  • Test internal links, images, downloads, and thank you pages
  • Review Search Console after the move for crawl and index issues

Taking your site back from an old developer account

Some moves are really about control. Your site sits in someone else's hosting account, the domain lives in a login you cannot find, and every small change turns into a favor. That ends here: a full inventory, then a proper transfer.

If you want hosting in one place after the move, we can host your site on our own managed servers, with uptime monitoring and alerts. If you want a different host, we move the site there and leave the keys with you.

  • Find the registrar, DNS, hosting, email, and admin logins
  • List analytics, Search Console, ad accounts, and payment connections
  • Move plugin, theme, stock photo, and license ownership where needed
  • Put key accounts in your name where the provider allows it
  • Remove access that should not stay after the move
  • Document what was moved, where it lives, and who owns it

Questions

Will my site go down during migration?

No one can promise zero downtime, so we do not. We build and test everything on a copy first, then change DNS during a slow hour, so any disruption stays as short as possible.

Will I lose email when the site moves?

Not if we handle the records first. We find out where your email is hosted and confirm the mail settings before the site flips. If your email lives on the old host, it moves before the site does.

Will my Google rankings drop?

A move can make search engines recrawl your site. We keep URLs stable when we can, add redirects when they have to change, and check Search Console after the move. If anyone promises your rankings will not budge, they are guessing.

Can you move a site my old developer controls?

Yes. We start with access and ownership: registrar, DNS, hosting, Search Console, analytics, and licenses. Then we move the site and put key accounts in your name where possible.

Do I have to host with you after the move?

No. If you want hosting handled, we can run your site on our managed servers with uptime monitoring and alerts. If you have a host you like, we move the site there.
